Ed eccoci arrivati a descrivere il 4° Meeting del Sicilia Smart Club!
Bellissimo Meeting “Interprovinciale” che ci ha portato all’interno delle province di Agrigento e Caltanissetta, anche se durante la giornata abbiamo avuto picchi di 43 e di 47 gradi!
Come da programma la maggior parte degli equipaggi hanno raggiunto il punto d’incontro a Santo Stefano Quisquina e da li, staffettati dalla Polizia Locale abbiamo raggiunto il famoso “Eremo di Santa Rosalia”, la cui gestione è affidata alla “Pro Loco” di Santo Stefano Quisquina che ringraziamo per la grande disponibilità.
L’Eremo fu costruito nelle vicinanze della grotta in cui si rifugiò per gran parte della sua vita Santa Rosalia, Santa protettrice della Città di Palermo.
Li ad attenderci per la visita guidata la gentilissima Carlotta che ci ha sapientementeesposto la storia della “Santuzza” e della successiva costruzione dell’Eremo, guidandoci passo passo attraverso il convento, oggi adibito a museo, nella visita della cappella che ancora oggi custodisce alcuni frammenti delle reliquie della Santa che vennero collocate in un mezzobusto raffigurante Santa Rosalia, la cripta ove sono custodite le mummie dei monaci del convento e la grotta dove la giovanissima Rosalia, fuggendo la vita mondana (era di nobili origini) ed in cerca di solitudine, di pace e soprattutto di Dio, trovò dimora per circa dodici anni, dal 1150 al 1162.
A fine visita siamo stati raggiunti dal gentilissimo Signor Sindaco di Santo Stefano Quisquina, il Dott. Francesco CACCIATORE al quale abbiamo consegnato una targa ricordo per la gentile collaborazione e la grande disponibilità fornita per la realizzazione della visita di quel magico luogo.
Quindi in marcia per raggiungere la nostra seconda tappa del Meeting, il Comune di CAMMARATA ma, poco prima della nostra seconda visita, abbiamo effettuato una “sosta a sorpresa” all’interno della tenuta “LO SARDO” dove i nostri soci Peppino e Orsola LO SARDO, con la collaborazione dei soci Pino e Lucia NOBILE ci hanno accolto con un delizioso “aperitivo” di benvenuto.
A causa di inderogabili impegni istituzionali il Sig. Sindaco del Comune di Cammarata Dott. Giuseppe MANGIAPANE non ci ha potuto raggiungere, e la nostra targa ricordo è stata consegnata al Comandante della Polizia Locale Dott. Massimo LOMBINO, che ci ha poi guidato lungo tutto il percorso all’interno del bellissimo centro storico del comune di Cammarata, attraversole antichissime stradine in cui le nostre smartine sono passate “a filo”.
Infine ultima tappa alla volta del Comune di Mussomeli, dove abbiamo gustato all’interno del Ristorante “Al Castello” le specialità locali con un apposito menù elaborato dagli chef di Salvatore SPOTO, che ringraziamo per la bontà del pranzo, per la bellezza del luogo e per il servizio che è stato particolarmente attento e professionale.
Quindi ultima visita di questo Meeting, la visita guidata del rinomato Castello Manfredonico di Mussomeli, storica fortezza eretta tra il XIV ed il XV secolo ad un’altezza di 778 metri s.l.m. che ci ha permesso di scoprire la bellissima cappella edificata al suo interno, la “Sala dei Baroni” (o sala del trono), le bellissime sale “da pranzo” , “del camino” e “da letto” del Conte, caratterizzate da elementi gotici, a doppia volta a crociera, l’armeria e la cosiddetta “camera della morte” con le sue insidiose botole, la “stanza delle tre donne” ed il carcere feudale, ed al suo esterno il ricovero del corpo d guardia.
Ed anche questa volta è giunto il momento di salutarci per fare rientro alle rispettive abitazioni, ma già pronti a rivederci dopo la pausa estiva al prossimo appuntamento del Sicilia Smart Club, il più adrenalinico dell’anno, lo Smart Time Attack giunto alla sua sesta edizione.
Arrivederci in pista allora, il 10 e 11 Settembre all’interno dell’Autodromo del Sole di Racalmuto.

And here we are to describe the 4th Meeting of the Sicilia Smart Club!
Beautiful “Interprovincial” Meeting that took us inside the provinces of Agrigento and Caltanissetta, even if during the day we had peaks of 43 and 47 degrees!
As scheduled, most of the crews reached the meeting point in Santo Stefano Quisquina and from there, relayed by the Local Police we reached the famous “Hermitage of Santa Rosalia”, whose management is entrusted to the “Pro Loco” of Santo Stefano Quisquina which we thank for the great availability.
The Hermitage was built near the cave where Santa Rosalia, patron saint of the City of Palermo, took refuge for most of her life.
There waiting for us for the guided tour the very kind Carlotta who has expertly exposed the history of the “Santuzza” and the subsequent construction of the Hermitage, guiding us step by step through the convent, now used as a museum, in the visit of the chapel that still preserves some fragments of the relics of the Saint that were placed in a half-bust depicting Santa Rosalia, the crypt where the mummies of the monks of the convent are kept and the cave where the very young Rosalia, fleeing the worldly life (she was of noble origins) and in search of solitude, peace and above all of God, found a home for about twelve years, from 1150 to 1162.
At the end of the visit we were joined by the very kind Mr. Mayor of Santo Stefano Quisquina, Dr. Francesco CACCIATORE to whom we delivered a commemorative plaque for the kind collaboration and the great availability provided for the realization of the visit of that magical place.
Then on the march to reach our second stage of the Meeting, the Municipality of CAMMARATA but, just before our second visit, we made a “surprise stop” inside the “LO SARDO” estate where our members Peppino and Orsola LO SARDO, with the collaboration of the members Pino and Lucia NOBILE welcomed us with a delicious welcome “aperitif”.
Due to mandatory institutional commitments, Mr. Mayor of the Municipality of Cammarata Dr. Giuseppe MANGIAPANE could not reach us, and our commemorative plaque was delivered to the Commander of the Local Police Dr. Massimo LOMBINO, who then guided us along the entire route inside the beautiful historic center of the municipality of Cammarata, through the ancient streets where our smartine have passed “flush”.
Finally last stop for the Municipality of Mussomeli, where we enjoyed the local specialties inside the “Al Castello” Restaurant with a special menu prepared by the chefs of Salvatore SPOTO, whom we thank for the goodness of the lunch, for the beauty of the place and for the service that was particularly attentive and professional.
So the last visit of this Meeting, the guided tour of the renowned Manfredonic Castle of Mussomeli, a historic fortress built between the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries at a height of 778 meters above sea level that allowed us to discover the beautiful chapel built inside, the “Sala dei Baroni” (or throne room), the beautiful “dining” rooms, “of the fireplace” and “bed” of the Count, characterized by Gothic elements, double cross vault, the armory and the so-called “death chamber” with its insidious trapdoors, the “room of the three women” and the feudal prison, and outside the shelter of the guardhouse.
And also this time the time has come to say goodbye to return to their respective homes, but already ready to see each other again after the summer break at the next appointment of the Sicilia Smart Club, the most adrenaline of the year, the Smart Time Attack now in its sixth edition.
