Ed eccoci pronti a raccontarvi il nostro Meeting immerso nella natura che ci ha permesso di andare alla scoperta della Riserva Naturale “Grotta di Entella”.
Pre Meeting iniziato sabato 29 Aprile con alcuni equipaggi provenienti dalle province di Catania, Palermo ed Agrigento che hanno pernottato a Contessa Entellina nella nuova struttura denominata “Contessa Vacanze Byron” e, dopo una breve escursione all’interno del centro storico abbiamo dato il via ad una “piccola grigliata” di benvenuto dal nostro Presidente, e la serata è volata via in men che non si dica.
Mentre domenica gli altri equipaggi erano in viaggio per raggiungere il punto di partenza del Meeting, gli equipaggi già presenti hanno effettuato una ricca colazione nella residenza estiva della nostra carissima Paola, dove la piccola “Pluttina” ha avuto un problema di carattere tecnico, ed è dovuta rimanere sul posto in attesa della sostituzione della coppa dell’olio (effettuata in tempi record l’indomani mattina) ma Giacomo e Dorella hanno comunque effettuato il meeting con altra vettura gentilmente fornita dall’amico Piero.
Raggiunta quindi l’area di sosta della Riserva naturale della Rocca di Entella abbiamo trovato in nostra attesa la Gentilissima Dottoressa Vincenza MESSANA, Direttrice della riserva e gli operatori addetti alla sorveglianza del parco Giorgio DI MAGGIO e Carlo POLITO.
All’arrivo di tutti i partecipanti un piccolo spuntino a base di ciambelloni all’arancia e torte di mele realizzate rispettivamente da Mea e Antonella, quindi è iniziata la “scalata” della Rocca.
Abbiamo quindi potuto apprezzare, grazie alle sapienti narrazioni della Dottoressa MESSANA dei luoghi e della storia delle uniche peculiarità paesaggistiche, geologiche vegetazionali e faunistiche, che abbiamo avuto il piacere di assaporare tra i resti della mitica città omonima di origine elima del sesto secolo avanti cristo, apprendendo che Entella fu un importantissimo centro urbano e costituì l’ultima roccaforte della resistenza musulmana distrutta dall’avanzata di Federico II nel 1246.
Nonostante il meteo non sia stato dalla nostra parte, abbiamo comunque raggiunto la sommità della Rocca, (meritandoci l’appellativo di “ardimentoso, intrepido ed allegro gruppo che non si è lasciato intimorire dalla pioggia”) ed abbiamo goduto di una vista mozzafiato su tutti i territori visibili intorno ad essa, e visitato i ruderi dell’antico castello, notando lungo il nostro cammino, oltre alle varie tombe (molte delle quali sono state saccheggiate in passato dai “tombaroli”) anche parecchi “resti” sia di ceramiche antiche che di ossa umane stratificate lungo le pareti.
Ritornati quindi a valle, abbiamo consegnato alla Dottoressa MESSANA in ringraziamento della grande disponibilità e professionalità riscontrata una targa in ricordo della bellissima esperienza vissuta, lasciandoci con un “arrivederci” possibilmente in una giornata primaverile di sole.
Abbiamo quindi nuovamente raggiunto Contessa Entellina, dove ad attenderci nella piazza principale, ove era stata predisposta l’area di sosta per le nostre smartine abbiamo trovato il Sig. Sindaco Dott. Leonardo SPERA che insieme al Comandante la Polizia Municipale Luciano AIOSA e parte dei Consiglieri Comunali ci hanno accolti nella Sala Consiliare del Comune dove abbiamo consegnato una targa ricordo di ringraziamento per la disponibilità e cortesia, ricevendo al contempo il neo creato marchio per valorizzazione del territorio “Kuntisa” che si trova già esposto in bella mostra all’interno della nostra sede istituzionale.
Da li siamo passati all’interno dei locali della nostra sede operativa, che come tutti sanno ha appun sede a Contessa Entellina, ed i nuovi soci hanno potuto constatare di persona la nostra bella realtà.
Per l’ultima tappa di questo Meeting abbiamo nuovamente raggiunto la Piazza dove Andrea e Grazia MORSELLI ci attendevano al ristorante “Sesto Senso”, (Operativo in esclusiva per il Sicilia Smart Club, trattandosi della nuova location del ristorante ed abbiamo avuto l’onore di essere stati i primissimi avventori) dove lo Chef “Rosario CATALINOTTO” ci ha fatto gustare le prelibatezze del menù appositamente creato per noi.
A fine pranzo, non potevamo ovviamente esimerci dallo stappare due bottiglie di spumante in loro compagnia ed auguriamo loro un lungo cammino professionale ricco di soddisfazioni nella nuova location!!!!

And here we are ready to tell you about our Meeting surrounded by nature that allowed us to discover the “Grotta di Entella” Nature Reserve.
Pre Meeting started Saturday, April 29 with some crews from the provinces of Catania, Palermo and Agrigento who stayed overnight in Contessa Entellina in the new structure called “Contessa Vacanze Byron” and, after a short excursion inside the historic center we started a “small barbecue” welcome by our President, and the evening flew away in no time.
While on Sunday the other crews were traveling to reach the starting point of the Meeting, the crews already present had a rich breakfast in the summer residence of our dear Paola, where the little “Pluttina” had a technical problem, and had to remain on site waiting for the replacement of the oil pan (carried out in record time the next morning) but Giacomo and Dorella still carried out the meeting with another car kindly provided by his friend Piero.
Reached the rest area of the Rocca di Entella Nature Reserve we found in our waiting the very kind Dr. Vincenza MESSANA, Director of the reserve and the operators in charge of the surveillance of the park Giorgio DI Maggio and Carlo POLITO.
At the arrival of all the participants a small snack based on orange donuts and apple pies made respectively by Mea and Antonella, then the “climb” of the Rocca began.
We were therefore able to appreciate, thanks to the wise narrations of Dr. MESSANA of the places and the history of the unique landscape, geological, vegetational and faunal peculiarities, which we had the pleasure of savoring among the remains of the mythical homonymous city of Elymian origin of the sixth century BC, learning that Entella was a very important urban center and constituted the last stronghold of the Muslim resistance destroyed by the advance of Frederick II in 1246.
Although the weather was not on our side, we still reached the top of the fortress, (deserving the nickname of “daring, intrepid and cheerful group that did not let itself be intimidated by the rain”) and we enjoyed a breathtaking view of all the visible territories around it, and visited the ruins of the ancient castle, noticing along our way, In addition to the various tombs (many of which were looted in the past by “grave robbers”) also several “remains” of both ancient ceramics and human bones layered along the walls.
Back in the valley, we gave Dr. MESSANA in thanks for the great availability and professionalism found a plaque in memory of the beautiful experience lived, leaving us with a “goodbye” possibly on a sunny spring day.
We then reached Contessa Entellina again, where waiting for us in the main square, where the parking area for our smartine had been set up, we found Mr. Mayor Dr. Leonardo SPERA who together with the Commander of the Municipal Police Luciano AIOSA and part of the Municipal Councilors welcomed us in the Council Chamber of the Municipality where we delivered a plaque of thanks for the availability and courtesy, receiving at the same time the newly created brand for the enhancement of the territory “Kuntisa” which is already exhibited on display within our institutional headquarters.
From there we passed inside the premises of our operational headquarters, which as everyone knows has appun headquarters in Contessa Entellina, and the new members have been able to see for themselves our beautiful reality.
For the last stage of this Meeting we again reached the square where Andrea and Grazia MORSELLI were waiting for us at the restaurant “Sesto Senso”, (Operating exclusively for the Sicilia Smart Club, being the new location of the restaurant and we had the honor of being the very first customers) where the Chef “Rosario CATALINOTTO” made us taste the delicacies of the menu specially created for us.
At the end of lunch, we obviously could not avoid uncorking two bottles of sparkling wine in their company and we wish them a long professional journey full of satisfactions in the new location!!!!
