E si riparte con le avventure dei Meeting del Sicilia Smart Club alla scoperta dei nostri bellissimi territori Siciliani per festeggiare il 9° Compleanno del nostro Club!
Con il primo Meeting dell’anno ci siamo reincontrati a Castel di Tusa, dove sabato 21 Febbraio abbiamo avuto la possibilità di visitare a Santo Stefano di Camastra la grande fabbrica di ceramiche “Duca di Camastra”, guidati dal Professore Domenico BOSCIA che ci ha sapientemente illustrato la storia dell’azienda, e fatto visitare l’azienda passo passo, spiegandoci tutte le fasi produttive delle lavorazioni, dal grezzo, alle decorazioni, alla successiva cottura dei manufatti, evidenziandoci anche le differenze tra le varie fasi di produzione, ed inoltre ha realizzato in esclusiva una mattonella in ricordo della nostra visita che, dopo la fase di cottura ci spedirà.
A fine visita abbiamo infine raggiunto il negozio dove i manufatti vengono venduti ed abbiamo approfittato delle particolari condizioni a noi riservate acquistando parecchi manufatti.
Rientrati quindi al Tus’Hotel, abbiamo gustato la deliziosa cena appositamente predisposta e dopo cena, approfittando dell’animazione dell’Hotel i nostri soci si sono lanciati nei balli di gruppo e nel karaoke.
Domenica 22 Febbraio alle ore 9.00 siamo stati raggiunti dal resto dei soci provenienti dalle province di Catania, Siracusa, Messina, Agrigento, Caltanissetta e Palermo ed abbiamo raggiunto la località denominata “Alesa Arconidea”, un’antica e quasi sconosciuta ai più città siculo-greca situata per l’appunto nel territorio di Tusa.
Qui grazie all’archeologo Dott. Francesco Saverio MODICA abbiamo conosciuto la storia della città, fondata nel 403 a.C. su una collina che dominava la vicina costa tirrenica e la valle del fiume Tusa, e fu la prima delle città siciliane a schierarsi con Roma durante la prima guerra punica, e fu una delle cinque “civitates liberae et immunes” con propria autonomia ed esenzione dai tributi prosperando dall’età repubblicana a quella imperiale e, dopo l’occupazione araba dell’isola la città venne abbandonata, risorgendo poi nell’odierna Tusa sulla sommità di un’altura naturalmente fortificata.
Gli scavi hanno evidenziato un grande impianto urbano circondato da mura fortificate con importanti complessi urbani tra cui l’agorà, due templi ed un anfiteatro.
Oggi l’Antiquarium espone opere scultoree, elementi decorativi ed architettonici comprendendo una sezione dedicata alle epigrafi greche e latine, databili tra il III° secolo a.C. ed il II° a.C.
Purtroppo nonostante la visita del sito sia a pagamento, ed i custodi siano professionali e gentili, il sito non è per niente mantenuto come dovrebbe, ed ai nostri occhi si è mostrato ricoperto dalla vegetazione ed in totale stato di incuria, con visibilissime infiltrazioni d’acqua che hanno e continuano imperterrite a distruggere gli intonaci, ed è un vero peccato che patrimoni di tale bellezza ed importanza vengano abbandonati alla totale incuria da chi dovrebbe “tutelarli”.
Ultimata la visita all’importantissimo sito, abbiamo provveduto a “Battezzare” le due nuove Smart aggiuntesi al nostro parco auto, la bellissima 451 mhd di Sandro e Maria, con il nome di “Colombina 2.0” e la bellissima Roadster del nostro Presidente e Mea con il nome di “Champagne”.
Ritornati quindi al Tus’Hotel abbiamo gustato l’ottimo pranzo appositamente elaborato dallo Chef Mario DI VITA a cui abbiamo consegnato una targa ricordo a riconoscimento dell’encomiabile professionalità e passione che mette nell’elaborazione delle sue portate e, dopo aver consegnato anche i gadget 2026 ai soci presenti che non avevano ancora avuto modo di ritirarli, abbiamo consegnato un’altra targa ricordo al Presidente della Pro Loco di Motta D’Affermo, dott. Nino NOTO che ha reso possibile questo primo incontro dell’anno ed in ultimo, abbiamo “Proclamato” il “VINCITORE DEL CONTEST GOURMET 2025” che dalle votazioni è risultato essere il “TUS’HOTEL” consegnando la targa di riconoscimento del premio “GOURMET 2025” al Direttore Dott. Daniele NIGRELLI ed allo Chef Mario DI VITA, tra gli applausi dei presenti.
Bellissima (e buonissima) torta di compleanno realizzata dallo Chef ed abbiamo festeggiato anche questo 9° traguardo.
Ed anche il primo Meeting dell’anno si è concluso felicemente…….

And off we go again with the adventures of the Sicilia Smart Club Meetings, discovering our beautiful Sicilian territories to celebrate the 9th Birthday of our Club!
With the first Meeting of the year, we met again in Castel di Tusa, where on Saturday, February 21, we had the opportunity to visit the large ceramics factory “Duca di Camastra” in Santo Stefano di Camastra, guided by Professor Domenico BOSCIA, who skillfully illustrated the history of the company for us and took us step by step through the facility, explaining all the production phases of the workmanship, from the raw material to the decorations, to the subsequent firing of the products, also highlighting the differences between the various production phases. Moreover, he created exclusively a tile in memory of our visit, which he will send us after the firing phase.
At the end of the visit, we finally reached the shop where the products are sold, and we took advantage of the special conditions reserved for us to purchase several items.
Once back at the Tus’Hotel, we enjoyed the delicious dinner specially prepared, and after dinner, taking advantage of the hotel’s entertainment, our members threw themselves into group dances and karaoke.
On Sunday, February 22 at 9:00 a.m., we were joined by the rest of the members coming from the provinces of Catania, Syracuse, Messina, Agrigento, Caltanissetta, and Palermo, and we reached the location called “Alesa Arconidea,” an ancient and almost unknown to most Siculo-Greek city located precisely in the territory of Tusa.
Here, thanks to the archaeologist Dr. Francesco Saverio MODICA, we learned the history of the city, founded in 403 B.C. on a hill overlooking the nearby Tyrrhenian coast and the Tusa river valley. It was the first of the Sicilian cities to side with Rome during the First Punic War and was one of the five “civitates liberae et immunes” with its own autonomy and exemption from tributes, prospering from the Republican age to the Imperial age. After the Arab occupation of the island, the city was abandoned, then rising again in today’s Tusa on the summit of a naturally fortified hill.
The excavations have revealed a large urban layout surrounded by fortified walls with important urban complexes including the agora, two temples, and an amphitheater.
Today, the Antiquarium displays sculptural works, decorative and architectural elements, including a section dedicated to Greek and Latin inscriptions dating from the 3rd century B.C. to the 2nd century B.C.
Unfortunately, despite the site visit being paid and the custodians being professional and kind, the site is not maintained at all as it should be, and to our eyes, it appeared covered in vegetation and in a total state of neglect, with clearly visible water infiltrations that have and continue relentlessly to destroy the plasters. It is truly a shame that such beautiful and important heritage is abandoned to total neglect by those who should “protect” it.
After completing the visit to the important site, we proceeded to “Baptize” the two new Smarts added to our car fleet: the beautiful 451 mhd of Sandro and Maria, named “Colombina 2.0,” and the beautiful Roadster of our President and Mea, named “Champagne.”
Once back at the Tus’Hotel, we enjoyed the excellent lunch specially prepared by Chef Mario DI VITA, to whom we presented a commemorative plaque in recognition of the commendable professionalism and passion he puts into preparing his dishes. After also handing out the 2026 gadgets to the present members who had not yet had the chance to pick them up, we presented another commemorative plaque to the President of the Pro Loco of Motta D’Affermo, Dr. Nino NOTO, who made this first meeting of the year possible. Finally, we “Proclaimed” the “WINNER OF THE GOURMET CONTEST 2025,” which from the votes turned out to be the “TUS’HOTEL,” presenting the recognition plaque for the “GOURMET 2025” award to the Director Dr. Daniele NIGRELLI and to Chef Mario DI VITA, amid the applause of those present.
Beautiful (and delicious) birthday cake made by the Chef, and we also celebrated this 9th milestone.
And so the first Meeting of the year concluded happily….
See you at the next appointment, which will see us as protagonists on April 18 and 19 in beautiful “RAGUSA IBLA”.
