E siamo infine giunti all’ultimo Meeting dell’anno……l’attesissimo “PRANZO DI NATALE”, a coronamento e chiusura delle attività sociali del Sicilia Smart Club per l’anno 2025.
Evento partecipatissimo, con ben 35 equipaggi provenienti da tutte le province Siciliane, ed abbiamo anche ospitato Massimo ed Angela, due amici Smartisti provenienti da Bergamo!
Gli equipaggi più lontani dal punto del Meeting sono partiti già nella mattinata di Sabato e tutti insieme abbiamo fatto tappa a Catania, nel nostro ristorante preferito “Da Peppino” dove abbiamo consumato uno squisito pranzo a base di pesce, per poi riprendere il viaggio con destinazione finale Zafferana Etnea.
Qui abbiamo pernottato all’Hotel “PRIMAVERA DELL’ETNA” dove siamo stati magnificamente accolti da Luisa, Lorenza e Salvatore LA MONICA a cui va il nostro particolare ringraziamento, che già dai primi contatti telefonici e mail si sono dimostrati gentilissi e disponibilissimi sia per l’assegnazione delle camere richieste che per la cena di sabato elaborando per noi un apposito menu’ che si è rivelato perfettamente all’altezza della situazione lasciandoci particolarmente contenti sia per il servizio che per le bontà delle portate.
Come di consueto poi, il dopocena si è svolto in un’apposita sala messaci a disposizione per la ormai consueta “TOMBOLATA” pre pranzo di Natale.
Domenica mattina gli equipaggi che hanno pernottato in loco sono stati raggiunti da tutti gli altri equipaggi partecipanti ed insieme abbiamo raggiunto la meta della nostra visita odierna, il parco tematico denominato “SICILIA IN MINIATURA” che ospita oltre a varie miniature realizzate riproducenti svariati monumenti della sicilia e non solo, anche delle riproduzioni interattive di animali preistorici e varie sale di proiezione che abbiamo visitato durante il percorso. Purtroppo il tempo non è stato clemente e la visita si è dovuta svolgere in modalità ridotta a causa della pioggia battente che ci ha tenuto compagnia per tutto il tempo.
A visita ultimata abbiamo raggiunto in località Misterbianco il “CASALE DEL FICO” di Giacomo e Marco LUCA, che per l’occasione è stato addobbato con nostra graditissima sorpresa dalla carissima Claudia CARUSO con delle composizioni di palloncini richiamanti i colori del nostro Club, ed abbiamo quindi gustato l’eccellente pranzo strutturato dai nostri carissimi referenti provinciali per la Sicilia Orientale Vittorio PRESTANDREA e Francesco FICHERA, ed elaborato dallo Chef Rosario AREA che ringraziamo per la squisitezza dei piatti proposti e per la qualità dei prodotti, con in ultimo una buonissima torta sempre realizzata da loro e l’immancabile “Panettone MAXIMUS” da 3 kg realizzato dal maestro pasticcere FIASCONARO.

Lunga e complessa la preparazione di quest’ultimo evento, che ha previsto oltre le normali attività di visite delle particolarità ed eccellenze della nostra Sicilia, la consegna delle tessere sociali del club 2026, le lettere di benvenuto ai nuovi soci ed ai soci rinnovanti ed i gadget che il Consiglio Direttivo ha fatto realizzare per tutti i soci, e le proclamazioni dei vincitori dei vari concorsi tenutisi durante l’anno sociale 2025, difatti durante il pranzo abbiamo proclamato i vincitori dei Concorsi “SOCIAL 2025” riservato ai soci tesserati, del “CONTEST 2025” aperto a tutti gli smartisti presenti all’interno del gruppo fb del Club, del “PREMIO FEDELTA’ 2025” riservato ai partecipanti ai meeting durante l’anno, ed infine il “PREMIO INTERPROVINCIALE 2025” che viene aggiudicato in base al maggior numero di presenze dei soci suddivisi in “Sicilia Orientale e Sicilia Occidentale”.
A sorpresa il nostro carissimo socio Gianfranco DI CARO ha donato ad ogni equipaggio partecipante una bellissima cornice natalizia, distribuendole personalmente.

And finally we have arrived at the last Meeting of the year… the highly anticipated ‘CHRISTMAS LUNCH’, crowning and closing the social activities of the Sicilia Smart Club for the year 2025.
A very well-attended event, with as many as 35 crews coming from all Sicilian provinces, and we also hosted Massimo and Angela, two Smart enthusiasts from Bergamo!
The crews farthest from the Meeting point had already set off on Saturday morning, and together we stopped in Catania at our favorite restaurant ‘Da Peppino’, where we enjoyed a delicious fish-based lunch, before resuming our journey to the final destination of Zafferana Etnea.
Here we stayed overnight at the Hotel ‘PRIMAVERA DELL’ETNA’, where we were magnificently welcomed by Luisa, Lorenza, and Salvatore LA MONICA, to whom we extend our special thanks. From the first phone calls and emails, they proved to be extremely kind and available, both for assigning the requested rooms and for Saturday’s dinner, preparing a special menu for us that proved perfectly up to the task, leaving us particularly satisfied with both the service and the delicious dishes.
As usual, after dinner we gathered in a dedicated room made available to us for the now-traditional pre-Christmas ‘BINGO’ game.
On Sunday morning, the crews who stayed overnight on site were joined by all the other participating crews, and together we reached the destination of our visit: the theme park called ‘SICILIA IN MINIATURA’, which hosts not only various miniatures reproducing numerous Sicilian monuments and more, but also interactive prehistoric animal replicas and various projection rooms that we visited along the way. Unfortunately, the weather was not kind, and the visit had to be conducted in a reduced mode due to the pouring rain that accompanied us the entire time.
After the visit, we headed to Misterbianco to the ‘CASALE DEL FICO’ of Giacomo and Marco LUCA, which for the occasion was decorated, to our great pleasant surprise, by the dear Claudia CARUSO with balloon arrangements recalling the colors of our Club. There we enjoyed the excellent lunch put together by our dear Eastern Sicily provincial referents Vittorio PRESTANDREA and Francesco FICHERA, and prepared by Chef Rosario AREA, whom we thank for the exquisite dishes offered and the quality of the products, ending with a delicious cake made by them and the unmissable 3 kg ‘Panettone MAXIMUS’ made by master pastry chef FIASCONARO.

Long and complex was the preparation of this last event, which included, beyond the usual visits to the peculiarities and excellences of our Sicily, the delivery of 2026 club membership cards, welcome letters to new members and renewing members, and gadgets made by the Board of Directors for all members, as well as the proclamations of the winners of the various contests held during the 2025 social year. Indeed, during lunch we announced the winners of the ‘SOCIAL 2025’ Contest reserved for card-carrying members, the ‘CONTEST 2025’ open to all Smart enthusiasts in the Club’s FB group, the ‘LOYALTY AWARD 2025’ reserved for Meeting participants during the year, and finally the ‘INTERPROVINCIAL AWARD 2025’, awarded based on the highest number of attendances by members divided into ‘Eastern Sicily and Western Sicily’.
As a surprise, our dear member Gianfranco DI CARO donated a beautiful Christmas frame to each participating crew, distributing them personally.
