E siamo ripartiti con i Meeting della stagione 2025 del Sicilia Smart Club!
Si iniziano i Meeting del Club da Bisacquino, in provincia di Palermo dove abbiamo festeggiato l’ 8° Compleanno del Sicilia Smart Club.
Già sabato mattina parecchi degli equipaggi partecipanti al meeting sono confluiti a Contessa Entellina dove è ubicata la nostra sede operativa, ed i partecipanti dopo aver preso alloggio c/o il B&B Casa Vacanze BYRON hanno trascorso un lieto pomeriggio all’interno della nostra sede operativa.
Appuntamento serale quindi al Ristorante Pizzeria “6° Senso” di Andrea e Grazia MORSELLI per un’ottima pizza che ha seguito i numerosi antipasti serviti e dopo cena abbiamo partecipato all’inaugurazione della nuova sede della “Consulta delle Donne” del Comune di Contessa Entellina aderendo all’invito che ci era gentilmente pervenuto.
Domenica mattina concentramento dei 25 equipaggi partecipanti nella centralissima Piazza Triona di Bisacquino dove l’Amministrazione Comunale ci ha riservato l’intera piazza per la sosta e l’esposizione delle nostre Smart, ed in quell’occasione abbiamo approfittato della disponibilità del Parroco Padre BACILE che ha dispensato a tutti i presenti la “Benedizione del Viaggiatore”.
Ricca colazione al famosissimo Bar PREZIOSO, che ci ha deliziato con le sue specialità e si parte per il Tour appositamente studiato per noi dalla gentilissima Dott.ssa Francesca DI CHIARA e si inizia dalla prestigiosa Chiesa Madre in stile barocco dedicata a San Giovanni Battista e al cui interno è custodita la tomba di Monsignor Giovanni Bacile, figura importantissima per il paese in quanto si oppose a Don Vito Cascio Ferro, un mafioso bisacquinese legato a Cosa Nostra e alla Mano Nera a New York.
La chiesa a croce latina è ricca di stucchi dorati, tra i quali spicca il transetto attribuito alla scuola serpottiana e numerose opere come la “Vara” un imponente baldacchino alto 6 metri del peso di 20 quintali portato a spalla da circa 80 devoti in occasione della festa del SS Crocifisso celebrata ogni anno il 3 Maggio, quindi partiti da Piazza TRIONA abbiamo raggiunto il “Giardino del Calvario” dove abbiamo trovato ad attenderci il gentilissimo Salvatore RAGUSA, curatore del luogo che ci ha sapientemente illustrato la storia e le peculiarità del giardino e dell’annessa “Chiesa del Calvario” edificata nel 1833, che sorge sulla sommità di una piccola collina e custodisce al suo interno una croce con inserito un frammento ligneo della vera Croce di Cristo. 43 scalini conducono al sagrato della piccola chiesa dove si dispongono i cantori dei lamenti del Venerdì Santo.
Successivamente, come da programma abbiamo effettuato il percorso denominato di “Frank Capra”, che tra i tanti migranti fu il più famoso affermandosi come regista cinematografico, raggiungendo Il museo etnoantropologico, sito nell’ex convento dei Frati Cappuccini.
Questo si sviluppa su 2 livelli; Al piano terra sono custoditi reperti di storia naturale e ritrovamenti archeologici di epoca neolitica, romana e alto medioevo, dipinti e ceramiche del XVIII e XIX secolo e una sezione dedicata agli orologi meccanici risalenti al XVIII secolo; Al piano superiore il percorso museale prosegue con la ricostruzione delle antiche tradizioni e dei mestieri dei Bisacquinesi, ed una sezione è dedicata all’attività artistica di Frank Capra.
Ritornati quindi in piazza Triona, le nostre Smartine ci attendevano in esposizione ed a bordo delle stesse abbiamo raggiunto Il famosissimo Santuario della Madonna del Balzo, costruito sul Monte Triona a circa 1000 metri s.l.m.
Il santuario è meta di pellegrinaggio di numerosi fedeli per pregare la statua della Madonna con Bambino, una scultura ad altorilievo custodita in un’edicola in marmo posta nell’altare maggiore. La leggenda narra che un giovane pastore in preda all’ira scagliò il suo coltello contro l’immagine della Madonna raffigurata su una pietra. Il giovane rimase fulminato all’istante e la madre, accorsa sul luogo, piangendo pregò la Madonna invocandoLe la grazia. E così fu: la Madre Celeste lo fece tornare in vita.
Completato il percorso delle interessantissime visite abbiamo infine raggiunto l’Istituto Alberghiero “DON CALOGERO DI VINCENTI” di Bisacquino, dove abbiamo potuto toccare con mano l’altissima preparazione professionale degli operatori impegnati per l’evento che ha coinvolto il docente di sala Prof. Liborio TRUNCALI, il responsabile della sezione serale Prof. Angelo MILAZZO, gli allievi del 3° periodo alberghiero serale Paola Miranda, Agnese MARINO, Francesca PURRAZZELLA, Piera RAGUSA, Maurizio MARINO, Emanuele PIZZOLATO, Rossana CAMPISI, Salvatore PANEDURO, il docente di cucina Prof. Giovanni Mario SAPORITO che ha elaborato il menu’ con le varie abbondanti portate delle specialità del territorio che abbiamo entusiasticamente gustato, ed i tecnici e collaboratori Filippo SCATURRO, Filippo MONTALBANO, Luciano CATALDO e Antonella LA RUSSA.
Tutti i partecipanti hanno espresso un vivo plauso e ringraziamento a tutti gli operatori ed il nostro particolare ringraziamento va al Dirigente dell’Istituto, il Prof. Giuseppe ZAMBITO che ci ha permesso la realizzazione del particolarissimo pranzo conviviale nella loro struttura.
Abbiamo quindi consegnato in ricordo della particolarissima giornata che abbiamo trascorso in loro compagnia, una targa ricordo dell’evento all’Istituto, una targa ricordo al Prof. SAPORITO con cui ci siamo interfacciati per l’organizzazione e tutti gli operatori hanno ricevuto in dono una “Medaglia” commemorativa dell’evento.
Doppia torta di compleanno alla fine, una per festeggiare l’8 Compleanno del nostro Sicilia Smart Club ed un’altra per festeggiare il 15° Compleanno della nostra cara Elisa!!!!
E siamo quindi arrivati alla fine di questi due giorni che abbiamo felicemente trascorso insieme, e pronti per effettuare il rientro alle proprie abitazioni, ci diamo appuntamento al prossimo Meeting dell’anno, che ci farà reincontrare in provincia di Ragusa l’8 e 9 Marzo.

And we left with the meeting of the 2025 season of Sicily Smart Club!
The clubs of the club from Bisacquino begin, in the province of Palermo where we celebrated the 8th birthday of Sicily Smart Club.
Already on Saturday morning several of the crews participating in the meeting were merged to the Countess Entellina where our operational headquarters are located, and the participants after I predict accommodation at the B&B Holiday home byron spent a happy afternoon within our operational headquarters.
The evening appointment then at the Pizzeria restaurant “6th sense” by Andrea and Grazia Morselli for an excellent pizza that followed the numerous appetizers served and after dinner we participated in the inauguration of the new headquarters of the “Consulta delle Donne” of the Municipality of Contessa Entellina adhering to the invitation that had kindly received us.
On Sunday morning concentration of the 25 participating crews in the central Triona Piazza di Bisacquino where the municipal administration has reserved the entire square for the stop and exposure of our smarts, and on that occasion we took advantage of the availability of the parish priest Father Bacile who He has dispensed to all those present the “blessing of the traveler”.
Rich breakfast for the famous precious bar, which delighted us with her specialties and we leave for the tour specially designed for us by the very kind Dr. Francesca Di Chiara and starts from the prestigious Baroque Mother Church dedicated to San Giovanni Battista and al which is kept the tomb of Monsignor Giovanni Bacile, a very important figure for the country as it opposed Don Vito Cascio Ferro, a mafia Bisacquinese linked to Cosa Nostra and the black hand in New York.
The Latin cross church is rich in golden stuccos, among which the transept attributed to the Serpotian school and numerous works such as the “Vara” an imposing 6 -meter high canopy of 20 quintals brought to the shoulder by about 80 devotees on the occasion of the Feast of the Crucifix SS celebrated every year on May 3, then left from Piazza Triona we reached the “Calvario Garden” where we found the very kind waiting for us Salvatore Ragusa, curator of the place who has expertly illustrated the history and peculiarities of the garden and the Annex “Church of Calvary” built in 1833, which stands on the top of a small hill and houses a cross with a fragment inserted wooden of the true cross of Christ. 43 steps lead to the churchyard of the small church where the singers of the complaints of Good Friday are placed.
Subsequently, as scheduled, we made the path called “Frank Capra”, which among the many migrants was the most famous by establishing himself as a film director, reaching the ethno -anthropological museum, located in the former convent of the Capuchin friars.
This develops on 2 levels; On the ground floor, finds of natural history and archaeological finds of the Neolithic, Roman and high Middle Ages, paintings and ceramics of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries and a section dedicated to mechanical watches dating back to the eighteenth century are kept; On the upper floor the museum route continues with the reconstruction of the ancient traditions and trade of the Bisacquinesi, and a section is dedicated to the artistic activity of Frank Capra.
Returning to Piazza Triona, our Smartine awaited us on display and on board the same we reached the famous sanctuary of the Madonna del Balzo, built on Mount Triona at about 1000 meters above sea level.
The sanctuary is a pilgrimage destination of numerous faithful to pray the statue of the Madonna and Child, a high -relief sculpture kept in a marble newsstand placed in the main altar. The legend tells that a young shepherd in anger threw his knife against the image of the Madonna depicted on a stone. The young man was electrocuted instantly and his mother, who rushed to the place, crying prayed to the Madonna by invoking her grace. And so it was: the celestial mother made him come back to life.
Once the path of the very interesting visits has been completed, we finally reached the “DON CALOGERO DI VINCENTI” hotel institute in Bisacquino, where we were able to touch the very high professional preparation of the operators engaged for the event that involved the teacher of Sala Prof. Liborio Truncali , the head of the evening section Prof. Angelo Milazzo, the students of the 3rd hotel period in the evening paola Miranda, Agnese Marino, Francesca Purrazzella, Piera Ragusa, Maurizio Marino, Emanuele Pizzolato, Rossana Campisi, Salvatore Paneduro, the kitchen teacher Prof. Giovanni Mario Saporito who has developed the menu with the various abundant courses of the specialties of the territory that we have enthusiasticly enjoyed, and the technicians e Collaborators Filippo Scaturro, Filippo Montalbano, Luciano Cataldo and Antonella La Russa.
All participants expressed a lively applause and thanks to all operators and our particular thanks goes to the institute manager, Prof. Giuseppe Zambito who allowed us to create the very particular convivial lunch in their structure.
We therefore delivered in memory of the very particular day that we spent in their company, a plaque memory of the event at the Institute, a plaque souvenir to Prof. Saporito with whom we interfaced for the organization and all operators received one as a gift Commemorative “medal” of the event.
Double birthday cake at the end, one to celebrate the 8 birthday of our Sicily Smart Club and another to celebrate the 15th birthday of our dear Elisa !!!!
And therefore we arrived at the end of these two days that we happily spent together, and ready to return to their homes, we meet the next meeting of the year, which will make us meet in the province of Ragusa on March 8 and 9 .
