Ed anche il Meeting a Caccamo si è concluso!
Come da programma, dopo le consuete operazioni di Pre Meeting abbiamo visitato la Chiesa di S. Benedetto alla Badia, fondata dalle suore Benedettine nel 1615 che custodisce tra i suoi tesori un pavimento di maiolica del XVIII Secolo, volte, emblemi, angeli e festoni, ed una grata barocca di rara e spettacolare bellezza, che veniva utilizzata dalle suore di clausura li residenti, per poi proseguire con la visita alla vicina Parrocchia dell’Annunziata, Bellissima chiesa di origine medioevale che presenta più stili architettonici essendo stata costruita a più riprese, ed al cui interno, sopra l’altare dell’abside maggiore è custodita la preziosa tela raffigurante “L’annunciazione di Maria” realizzata da Guglielmo Borremans e potremo inoltre ammirare gli stucchi del Serpotta e del Sanseverino, medaglioni di Filippo Sgarlata e gli affreschi di Gianbecchina.
Il tour è proseguito alla volta della Chiesa Madre, di origine Normanna che custodisce svariate opere di grande interesse storico ed infine, grazie alle sapienti indicazioni della Sig. Rita LO BELLO, abbiamo scoperto il maestoso Castello di Caccamo, uno dei più belli e meglio conservati in italia. Venne fondato in origine come fortezza militare di grande importanza, per poi essere ampliato ed infine trasformato in residenza delle grandi famiglie della nobiltà siciliana.
Ultimate le visite il pranzo sociale all’interno di una bellissima sala antica del ristorante “A Castellana”, che ospita un museo etno-antropologico della civiltà contadina, ricavato all’interno degli originali granai esterni del Castello dove abbiamo gustato un particolare menù che ci ha consentito di apprezzare le specialità locali sapientemente preparate dagli chef di alta cucina del Ristorante “A Castellana” ed il nostro ringraziamento va ai titolari dell’attività, Cettina e Salvo PORRETTA per la straordinaria gentilezza e cordialità riscontrato, per l’ottima cucina, la bellissima location ma soprattutto per il “servizio” ai tavoli, che possiamo definire senza alcun dubbio “impeccabile”.
Altro ringraziamento va al Sig. Giuseppe SCIMECA, titolare delle “Case Vacanze SCIMECA” dove gli equipaggi giunti sabato sul posto hanno pernottato. Ottima organizzazione, pulizia, grande disponibilità e servizio ottimo anche in questo caso.
Ed infine un caloroso ringraziamento al Comune di Caccamo, che ha reso possibile la realizzazione di questo Meeting, con un particolare ringraziamento a Filippo CANZONE, oltre a tutte le gentilissime persone della Pro Loco che ci hanno supportato dall’inizio alla fine del Meeting, Filippo CECALA, il Presidente della Pro Loco Prof. Giovanni PANZECA, e la bravissima Erika BRANCATO che ci ha sapientemente guidato ed illustrato tutte le particolarità e la storia dei siti visitati, oltre al caro amico Cosimo SPICA attivissimo anch’esso dall’inizio alla fine del nostro Meeting.

And the Meeting in Caccamo is also over!
As scheduled, after the usual pre meeting operations we visited the Church of S. Benedetto alla Badia, founded by the Benedictine nuns in 1615 that houses among its treasures an 18th century majolica floor, vaults, emblems, angels and festoons, and a Baroque grate of rare and spectacular beauty, which was used by the cloistered nuns resident them , and then continue with the visit to the nearby Parish of the Annunci, Beautiful church of medieval origin that has several architectural styles having been built several times, and inside, above the altar of the main apse there is the precious canvas depicting “The Annunciation of Mary” made by Guglielmo Borremans and we can also admire the stuccoes of Serpotta and Sanseverino, medallions by Filippo Sgarlata and the frescoes by Gianbecchina.
The tour continued to the Mother Church, of Norman origin that houses several works of great historical interest and finally, thanks to the wise indications of Mr. Rita LO BELLO, we discovered the majestic Castle of Caccamo, one of the most beautiful and best preserved in Italy. It was originally founded as a military fortress of great importance, and then expanded and finally transformed into the residence of the great families of the Sicilian nobility.
After the visits the social lunch inside a beautiful ancient room of the restaurant “A Castellana”, which houses an ethno-anthropological museum of peasant civilization, obtained inside the original external granai of the Castle where we enjoyed a particular menu that allowed us to appreciate the local specialties expertly prepared by the chefs of haute cuisine of the Restaurant “A Castellana” and our thanks go to the owners of the activity , Cettina and Salvo PORRETTA for the extraordinary kindness and friendliness found, for the excellent cuisine, the beautiful location but above all for the “service” at the tables, which we can define without any doubt “impeccable”.
Another thanks goes to Mr. Giuseppe SCIMECA, owner of the “SCIMECA Holiday Homes” where the crews who arrived on site on Saturday overnight. Excellent organization, cleanliness, great availability and excellent service also in this case.
And finally a warm thanks to the Municipality of Caccamo, which made possible the realization of this Meeting, with a special thanks to Filippo CANZONE, in addition to all the very kind people of Pro Loco who supported us from the beginning to the end of the Meeting, Filippo CECALA, the President of pro loco Prof. Giovanni PANZECA, and the very good Erika BRANCATO who expertly guided us and illustrated all the peculiarities and history of the sites visited , in addition to my dear friend Cosimo SPICA, we also active from the beginning to the end of our Meeting.
Next appointment of the Club on 04 October 2020 in the province of AGRIGENTO.
