Ed eccoci pronti a raccontarvi il terzo meeting dell’anno che ci ha visto protagonisti nella provincia di Agrigento, nella bellissima BURGIO.
Già sabato pomeriggio alcuni degli equipaggi partecipanti sono arrivati a Bisacquino e, dopo aver preso possesso delle camere nell’albergo diffuso di Vincenzo Prezioso, hanno raggiunto Corleone dove ci attendeva lo Chef Gianluca SAPORITO nel suo rinomato ristorante “Leon d’Oro” e ci ha deliziato con una carrellata di assaggi delle prelibatezze locali e, successivamente abbiamo visitato la rinomata “Cascata delle due Rocche” e successivamente abbiamo effettuato una visita guidata al monastero del Santissimo Salvatore.
Cena nuovamente al Leon d’Oro dove abbiamo gustato altre specialità locali.
Domenica mattina al punto convenuto sono confluiti tutti gli equipaggi provenienti dalle province di Palermo, Agrigento, Catania e Siracusa ed abbiamo raggiunto BURGIO, dove ad attenderci per le visite programmate ci attendeva la nostra “espertissima” guida, il carissimo Paolo PENDOLA che ci ha guidato alla scoperta di alcuni dei luoghi che avevamo precedentemente concordato.
Prima tappa quindi al bellissimo “Museo della Ceramica”, incastonato all’interno di un antichissimo Monastero al cui interno abbiamo ammirato le peculiarità delle ceramiche locali, famosissime in tutto il mondo, e subito dopo abbiamo raggiunto e visitato il “Museo delle Mummie”.
Da li abbiamo proseguito l’itinerario visitando la bellissima “Chiesa di San Giuseppe” che ci ha letteralmente lasciati senza parole per la sua unicità e bellezza.
Qui abbiamo incontrato il Sig. Sindaco di BURGIO Dott. Vincenzo GALIFI e la Presidente della Pro Loco Sikania di Burgio, Dott.ssa Mariella CORRAO, ai quali abbiamo consegnato delle targhe ricordo nominative per ciascun ente, a testimonianza della loro disponibile accoglienza e per la gentilissima collaborazione, ricevendo in dono un bellissimo stemma di Burgio in bronzo, appositamente realizzato per l’occasione che avremo l’onore di esporre nella nostra sede operativa.
Ci siamo quindi recati alla bottega della Ceramica “CARAVELLA” dove abbiamo potuto ammirare le tecniche di lavorazione delle ceramiche locali, dai colori caratteristici che le rendono uniche in tutto il mondo, ed abbiamo anche avuto l’opportunità di acquistare vari oggetti.
Infine una visita alla Chiesa Madre di Burgio, ed abbiamo successivamente raggiunto l’ultimo luogo del tour, ovvero la rinomata fabbrica di campane di “Mario VIRGADAMO” che ci ha illustrato le tecniche di realizzazione delle loro famosissime campane, dalla costruzione alla loro accordatura finale.
Ultimate quindi le visite programmate, abbiamo successivamente raggiunto la località di Chiusa Sclafani dove al ristorante “LA COLLINETTA” abbiamo assaporato il menù appositamente preparatoci dal titolare Salvatore CAMPISI.
Ed anche questo meeting è ormai giunto al termine, e non ci resta che salutarci e darci appuntamento al prossimo imminente appuntamento che ci vedrà, in provincia di Palermo, alla scoperta di Villafrati e Cefalà Diana il prossimo 4 e 5 Maggio.
Un ringraziamento particolare va al Signor Paolo PENDOLA, nostra espertissima esclusiva guida per la giornata trascorsa a Burgio che, grazie alla sua profonda conoscenza dei luoghi e della storia ci ha sapientemente guidato lungo tutto il percorso effettuato.
And here we are ready to tell you about the third meeting of the year which saw us as protagonists in the province of Agrigento, in the beautiful BURGIO.
Already on Saturday afternoon some of the participating crews arrived in Bisacquino and, after having taken possession of the rooms in Vincenzo Prezioso’s Albergo Diffuso, they reached Corleone where Chef Gianluca SAPORITO was waiting for us in his renowned restaurant “Leon d’Oro” and gave us delighted with a series of tastings of local delicacies and, subsequently, we visited the renowned “Cascata delle due Rocche” and subsequently took a guided tour of the monastery of the Santissimo Salvatore.
Dinner again at Leon d’Oro where we tasted other local specialties.
On Sunday morning, all the crews from the provinces of Palermo, Agrigento, Catania and Syracuse converged at the agreed point and we reached BURGIO, where our “very expert” guide, the dearest Paolo PENDOLA, who guided us, was waiting for us for the scheduled visits. discovering some of the places we had previously agreed upon.
First stop then at the beautiful “Museum of Ceramics”, set inside an ancient monastery where we admired the peculiarities of local ceramics, very famous throughout the world, and immediately afterwards we reached and visited the “Museum of Mummies”.
From there we continued the itinerary visiting the beautiful “Church of San Giuseppe” which literally left us speechless with its uniqueness and beauty.
Here we met the Mayor of BURGIO Dr. Vincenzo GALIFI and the President of the Pro Loco Sikania of Burgio, Dr. Mariella CORRAO, to whom we gave commemorative plaques named for each institution, as evidence of their helpful welcome and for the very kind collaboration, receiving as a gift a beautiful bronze Burgio coat of arms, specially created for the occasion which we will have the honor of displaying in our operational headquarters.
We then went to the “CARAVELLA” ceramic workshop where we were able to admire the manufacturing techniques of local ceramics, with the characteristic colors that make them unique throughout the world, and we also had the opportunity to purchase various objects.
Finally a visit to the Mother Church of Burgio, and we subsequently reached the last place of the tour, the renowned bell factory of “Mario VIRGADAMO” who illustrated to us the techniques for making their famous bells, from construction to their final tuning .
Having completed the scheduled visits, we then reached the town of Chiusa Sclafani where at the “LA COLLINETTA” restaurant we savored the menu specially prepared for us by the owner Salvatore CAMPISI.
And this meeting has now come to an end, and all we have to do is say goodbye and meet up at the next upcoming event which will see us, in the province of Palermo, discovering Villafrati and Cefalà Diana on 4th and 5th May.
